San Diego 2..

So we hit Sea World. That is quite a place. The boys loved the little dolphin pools and the tide pools where they could touch the starfish (or technically sea stars I guess). Zack was freaked out by the dark aquariums and there are 3 or 4 of them. So he'd wait outside with me or Robb and Bryce loved that he got to go through twice, once per parent.

It was fun to see all the individual habitats but the hit for us and the boys were the big shows. The first one we went to was the sea lion show. It was a navy/submarine themed show and the way they get those animals to do whatever they want is amazing. The second one was the dolphin show. They brought out this little family, a dad and mom and daughter, and let them each do a little something and then the mom fell in the pool and everyone gasped and screamed...but by the time the mom grabbed onto the dolphin and took a ride around the pool, you knew she was a plant. It was really funny though. The boys thought it was hilarious. Then the last show of the day was Shamu...truly just unbelievable. A little different since I was there in the 7th grade. 4 moving huge TV screens with music and lights and the whales just throwing the trainers into the air and doing unreal acrobatics. No fireworks though Liz...maybe that's later in the summer when it stays open later. It was a good time though. The weather was about 70 all day, just perfect.

Afterwards we headed back to the hotel for dinner and to hit the pool. Needless to say, the "heated" pool was a little on the non-heated side so we opted for the family bathtub as my kids called it. The hot tub was a little toasty but it worked.

We are staying in this hotel that was built in the 1940's so it's this old colonial style place that is all remodeled. It was supposedly a Hollywood hotspot back in the day. The pool is olympic size and the surroundings are pretty lush looking and it has a great atmosphere. Afterwards we had to play Bionicle again but we brought it down to the lobby and played it with one of the tables with the candles and the boys thought that was pretty cool. Now, all 3 of my boys are knocked out as I'm blogging. No idea what we're doing tomorrow...
