We went to the zoo this morning. Kay & Cheryl had a zone conference so they couldn't hang with us till later. The zoo shouldn't be too busy midweek right? Ha! The zoo is immense. It is also FREE which amazes me and quite popular with just about everyone apparently. We got there around 10am and all the lots were full and cars lined the streets as far as you could see. I think we literally parked a mile away. But, the kids were troopers and it was a great day. Hardly any complaints out of those 7 cuties. Babies were great, Avery slept half the time. We told them we weren't spending a dime so don't ask! So when Lori decided to go grab 7 Super Popsicles, they were thrilled! (It was SO hot.)
I loved this picture of Zack and his disgusted face at this beetle fact. Gross!
Enjoying the super popsicles by the zebras. Aren't they cute?
Bryce and Will are a crack up! They are totally 2 peas in a pod. They are both distracted easily and not the speediest of boys. So one sees and ant or a roly poly and we are held up for 5 minutes. The whole day it was, "Bryce and Will! Move it!" But they're just so dang cute together. Can you believe Bryce is 2 grades ahead of Will??
After the mile hike (uphill) back to the car, we headed back to the mission home for lunch and to wait for Grandma & Grandpa. They got home shortly after and we went over to the stake patriarch's house (I LOVE their connections). They live in this AMAZING neighborhood with an AMAZING pool in the backyard. She told us we could come over anytime and swim this week. It was surrounded with enormous green trees and beautiful flowers on every side. It was like a resort! The kids were having a ball. Then she brought out lemonade and then she ordered pizza and then she brought out treats. I mean these kids (and us) were in heaven. It was the greatest most relaxing 4 1/2 hours ever. I think Kay & Cheryl enjoyed the break from the crazy mission life too.
The boys loved launching themselves off the diving board for HOURS.
Grandpa was having such a fun time with the babies. They were just giggling at him. So cute!
Not sure what tomorrow has in store but we just may hit the pool again. Robb flies in tomorrow night. Yay!!
Oh and here's a fun fact...did you know that the inventor of Willy Wonka candy is LDS? He lives right down the road from the mission home in the "Wonka" mansion and is in Kay and Cheryl's ward. He joined the church in his 40's and has been a mission president twice. When the church wanted to build the temple here in St. Louis right next to a baptist university, the university refused to sell the land to them. Willy Wonka offered to buy the land and the university put a stipulation in there stating he couldn't sell it to the LDS church. Well, he didn't sell it to them, he just gave it to them. So now the temple sits right next to the baptist university. Thought that was funny...
