Briggs and Company: Memorial Day Weekend

Our good friends, the Haleys, have lived in Sidney, Nebraska for years. We have visited them quite a few times so we could hang out and so the kids could play. Well, they just bought a new house about 20 miles north of Sidney in a little town called Dalton. It is a beautiful house and they now have 10 acres. We decided to go visit them and see their new home over Memorial Day weekend. Erica and Shannon have become good friends with Ali too so they all came along.

Zack has always had this infatuation with all things Tornado related. So, their tornado shelter in their backyard was awesome to him!

On Saturday morning we all got in our cars and headed to Chimney Rock. We went through the museum, let the kids pack a covered wagon, and took some pics out on the back patio.

Here are all the kiddos between all of us. There was a wasp nest right under the bench they were standing on. Can you tell Bryce was a little nervous? Poor guy.

Then we went over to Bridgeport for the afternoon and let the kiddos play at the beach.

On the way home from the lake, we came across tons of wildlife on the "scenic" route that Matt took us on. We came upon a rattle snake and Matt hopped out of his truck grabbed his shovel and "battled" it as Zack would say. He eventually decapitated it. He said there are a few things you always kill out in the country if you can because they kill the livestock. Rattlers, raccoons, and coyotes. Ahh...Nebraska.

Saturday night and Sunday afternoon, the ladies worked on a sewing project. We made some maxi skirts. They were not as easy as they appeared. This is my reaction to having to rip out my seam. Grrr...

Erica tried to tell us she couldn't sew which I think was a load of you know what. She was a skirt making maniac! She was altering and ruffling like a pro.
