Then we started the caravan and headed to the Seattle area. It wasn't that long of a drive and it's so gorgeous on that side of the state. We made our way north to Everett and over to the Mukilteo Ferry which took us on to Whidbey Island. We found our rental and got settled. It's a beautiful house with a beautiful yard and an unbelievable view out into the bay. We made our way down to the "beach" but it was very rocky and teeming with teeny tiny crabs everywhere! Bryce was in heaven...Zack not so much...ha ha.

View of our rental from the back.On day two, we got up and had decided to take a ferry over to Port Townsend on the Olympic Peninsula. Well, the ferry was sold out so we stayed on the island and headed up to Deception Pass which is the bridge that goes from the north end of the island over to mainland Washington.

This picture totally cracked me up. Mel was helping Avery with the sand toys and Avery was being such a ham and a total poser!
After hanging out at the beach in the north, we went down to Fort Ebey and saw the gun battery from the old fort. There were all these tunnels and dark rooms. Zack had is flashlight and you could barely see anything it was so black. Mel told Zack to come take a pic with her. I told him to look scared. He had no idea what she was doing in the pitch dark and this was the result!

We got back and were all pooped but Bryce found the energy to swing on the amazing swing in the back yard.
