I just can't believe this piece of work is 12 years old. It doesn't seem that long ago that our super chubby baby joined our family. Some of the things I remember about him being a baby:
1. He cried A LOT, especially at night. It wasn't really a loud cry be he was cranky a lot. He was definitely my 'hard' baby out of the three. But, when he smiled and was doing something that he enjoyed, he was a dream. This is pretty much true today. He is still my stubborn boy who likes to push his parents' buttons.
2. He used to puke his guts out as a baby. The doctor never worried about it because he was enormous and was obviously getting enough to grow (19.5 pounds at 4 months and almost 27 pounds at a year). Today, he is not turned off by food at all. He'll eat anything.
3. He's always liked music. He loved hearing me play the violin, he loved singing and knew every word of Shania Twain's, "Always" and sang it all the time before he was even two. It was the cutest thing ever. Music is still his thing and he is great at the piano and the cello. He also loves listening to classical music and movie soundtracks by Hans Zimmer and his favorite, Michael Giacchino.
4. From the time he was little he definitely had sensitivity/sensory issues. He hated loud noises, weird things touching him, strange sounds, and he had quite a few fears. He has slowly grown out of most of those things. He has overcome MANY fears in just the past couple of years.
One thing is for sure, he is getting older and changing a lot. We hope he keeps changing for the better and can't wait to see what he becomes and what he does with his life!
I keep wondering at what birthday he will stop asking for Legos.
Grandma Morgan gave Zack an awesome gift that she gives to all her grandkids that turn 12. She reads a Book of Mormon and marks it up with that grandchild in mind. She has a color code system that she gives to them so they know exactly why she marked it, why it was important to her, and why she thinks it should be important to them. What an amazing gift! I love that she does it and love that my kids will have that cool example of her testimony to keep forever.
We were so excited to have Lacey, Zack's birthmom, here with us for the weekend. She built one of Zack's Lego sets with him the night of his birthday. It was the first time she had ever built Legos.
They look just a little bit (A LOT) alike. She also took him shopping and got him some fun things. He had saved some money for a laptop and she made up the difference for what he didn't have. Spoiled. She also got him a big lounge pillow, some notebooks, and took him out to lunch.
It was a great weekend. Both sets of grandparents came for the ordination so it was a few days filled with lots of fun, food, and memories!
