Morgan Reunion

Our big summer trip this year was to Utah for a family reunion with the Morgans at Bear Lake.  It just so happens that you can drive through Logan, UT to get to Bear Lake so we took advantage of it and took the kids and showed them our old stompin' grounds.  We were in Logan from January 1998 to May 2000.  Robb got his Bachelor of Science in Production Management from USU and I worked on campus in the Biology Advising Office.  It was a great couple of years and we LOVED it there.

This is the 4-plex where we lived on 1190 North.  We lived in #1 which is the bottom left unit.  Robb's sister, Lori and her hubs, Scott lived right above us.  It was so much fun living by them.  So many good memories.

We took the kids up on campus, showed them the quad with the Aggie tower, showed them my office and where me and the other secretaries used to sneak in to the cadaver lab (and you are surprised I like horror movies?), went and found my boss in a different building and took them to pick out some goodies from the USU Bookstore.

Then we made our way up to Bear Lake.  Our family rented a large cabin just a little ways off the lake.  It was awesome.

We arrived on my dad's 72nd birthday so we had to celebrate!  Way to still be alive and kickin' pops!

One of the highlights of our reunion was my nephew, Richy, being ordained an elder in preparation for his mission to Fort Lauderdale, Florida in October.  We all went over to the church house in Bear Lake and a high councilman (or stake presidency member maybe?) met us there and we had a very emotional ordination.  We were so glad to be a part of it.

Mom and Dad always have a very meaningful Family Home Evening for us when we get together.  The grandkids learned a little bit more about their heritage and their aunts and uncles.  It was awesome.  Being able to put on a good Family Home Evening is definitely one of my parents' many super powers!  Then a few of the grandkids bore their testimonies, including Zack.

We spent a good amount of time at Rendezvous Beach at the southern tip of the lake. We would drive down and Kelly would put the boat in at the marina and come down to meet us.  We would anchor the boat and just play in the water and relax on the beach and then we would set out for a couple good hours of tubing and wake boarding.  It was so fun to just chill and watch the kids have so much fun.  Between all of us we had lots of beach toys, screen tents, tubes, chairs, and everything you need.  Every once in a while a little thunderstorm would creep over the mountain and sprinkle on us but for the most part the weather was great.

You gotta watch out for these two when there is a camera around.

So Zack's entire life, almost 12 years, he has had a fear of any kind of water that is not pool water.  All the times we have been to the Caribbean, he refuses to get in.  He won't do lakes either.  He is just creeped out that there are living things in there that might brush by him.  I have never EVER been able to bribe him with anything...until this trip.  He was so close to getting in and as a last ditch effort I offered him $50.  He got cheers from all his cousins and just did it!  It freaked him out at first but then he was fine.  He totally got in to tubing and would have done it the whole time.  So if the reunion was worth anything, it was worth my Zack overcoming this fear!

We all took turns tubing which was so fun!  Avery wasn't scared a bit.  And I can't find a picture of Bryce but he went too and loved it.

In his total happy place!

McKenzie was the best babysitter in the water EVER.  I think these girls were out there for about 2 hours at a time.  Both just total fish!

Another Morgan family tradition is the Present Game.  Grandma and Grandpa accumulate things through the year, they could be silly trinkets, stickers, pretty jewelry, cash, gift cards, and much more.  They dump the bag out on the floor and we go around and pick what we want.  I love the great view from up in the loft.

One morning, we decided to make our way up to Bloomington Lake.  Mel had been there before and told us it was amazing.  We drove up into the mountains north west of Bear Lake to a trailhead and then hiked up another 20 minutes to Bloomington Lake.  SO beautiful! Beautiful trees, glacial snow, and amazing blue sky.

Here is one of about a million pictures I took of Robb doing the massive rope swing into Bloomington Lake.  He had a ball flinging and contorting his body off that rope in every way he could think of to do it.

Here is our beautiful family minus one niece out on the deck of our cabin.

Here is pretty much how we really are.

And how can I not add this one.  Oh...my...leave it to Aunt Mel to bring out the best in them.

We are a crazy group but we sure have a great time when we are together.  So grateful we all get along and enjoy each other's company.  I love all these amazing people.
