We are in St. George this week for a couple of reasons. Robb is racing in the Half Ironman on Saturday and we are also visiting both Bryce's birthmom and Zack's birthmom. Bryce has been begging for a long time and today was his day! His birthmom, Dixie, lives about 45 miles east of St. George in Apple Valley.
When we met her 10 years ago, she was a single mother of one 2 year old girl named Lydia. She had made the incredibly hard decision of placing Bryce for adoption and make sure he was sealed into an eternal family. We were so honored that she selected our family. Since his placement we hadn't had too much contact with her until about 4 years ago. He wanted to contact her so we searched and googled and were pretty certain we had found her. We sent her a card with our contact info and she got in contact with us! Shortly after placing Bryce, she met Kevin, and they were married and have since had 4 more adorable kids! Over the past few years, Bryce and Dixie have sent some letters, emails, Christmas cards, and little gifts. Dixie was excited when we told her we were coming. We had a great day with her and her family.
Bryce gave her a canvas with a painting of a tree that he did. She gave him this awesome ring. It says I Am a Child of God around the outside and is inscribed with "You Are Loved" on the inside. What a treasure he will have forever!
I remember the day she placed Bryce with us, then 2-year-old Lydia and almost 2-year-old Zack played together in the lobby. They are all grown up now!

After lunch, we went to a park and played aerobie, let the kids play at the playground and then the kids went hunting for pecans (and found a ton). I snagged this picture of Dixie and Bryce pecan hunting.

Saying goodbye. What a great day for Mr. Bryce. He definitely knows his birthmama loves him. We are so grateful to her and that she allowed him to be a part of our family.

This is so touching. What a great experience for Bryce. Dixie is an amazing woman to give Bryce the gift that she did. I love how "extended" your family is. Your children have so many people that love them, what a true treasure!!!
And now Im crying. What a blessing that he gets to know her.
