Zack and Bryce both received PRIDE awards at the last school assembly. (Purpose, Respect & Responsibility, Integrity, Determination, & Effort). Only 2 kids were chosen per classroom so we were pretty proud that they BOTH received awards.
Zack was also invited to participate in MESA next year (math, engineering, science, achievement). It's basically an after school kind of club where you do projects and other things dealing with the sciences. They'll be doing a lot about the moon next year. It's invitation only and he was hoping to get in and came home a couple of weeks ago with the invitation! Next year they will go on a week trip down to Crow Canyon Archeological Center near Pueblo and he is super excited.
For the last day of school today, Bryce had his Reader's Theater. He told me he was in the play Tacky the Penguin. Little did I know, he was actually Tacky, the star of the play! It was cute and he totally got into it. Bryce and drama...what a shocker. Here he is in his mask. (Forgive the crappy pics...of course I got to school and there was no memory card in my camera so these are from my iTouch)

Saying goodbye to Mrs. Nesvold. Zack had her for 2nd grade too and we LOVE her. Bryce went from barely being 1st grade proficient in reading to actually reading at a 4th grade level by the end of the year. Thank you Mrs. N!

Ahhh...Mrs. Higerd. She did make the mama bear come out in me a couple times this year with her accusing Zack of plagiarism and some other lame comments she made on some of his work but overall, I think Zack liked her and learned a lot about responsibility. She had nothing but praise for him at his last parent teacher conference and today when we said goodbye.
Zack had lots of great friends in his class this year. Here he is with Morgan, one of his best friends and he's super excited she made it into MESA next year too. :)
Bring on the pool, slurpees, road trips, camping, art camp, science camp, swim lessons, and sleeping in!!!
